A Necessary Alternative to Divorce by Mutual Consent

Provided for by Articles 229-1 and following of the Civil Code, divorce by mutual consent allows you to divorce amicably without appearing before a judge. However, this type of divorce is not recognized in many foreign countries. Consequently, it will be impossible for you to enforce the judgment and give full effect to the divorce.
